about

This album was written, recorded and mixed by Japanese Super Shift (Stefnir Gunnarsson) between 2014 and 2015.

Formed in 2005 by Stefnir Gunnarsson as an outlet for synthdriven pop songs while being at the helm of the now defunct rock outfit Lada Sport. After gaining some attention on its own, the project recruited various musicians to perform the songs live - which at the time were only available as low bitrate mp3’s on an underground music website called Rokk.is.

Stefnir continued to use the name as a vehicle for his own songs, not intended to be used and arranged by Lada Sport. And as Lada Sport decided to call it a day in early 2008 the name continued to be his musical outlet.

Still wanting to be a part of something more than a solo project, Stefnir gathered together a few of his friends, among them; his brother and brother-in-law to form a band around the songs he’d written. The Future Band was formed as a backing, thus making the name of the entity Japanese Super Shift and the Future Band.

Stefnir continued making songs as Japanese Super Shift and released in june 2011 his debut solo album Hitotsu. Then after having released an album with the full Future Band ensamble a year later he started to write what would become his second solo offering. 47 was released on the 24th of july 2014. Then on the same exact day a year later Stefnir released the third album under the Japanese Super Shift moniker, titled Double Slit Album.
